THE NEW FACE OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN. September, 2004
“The Healing Touch”. David Little Wounded reaches out to calm a friend on the South Dakota’s Cheyenne River Indian Reservation, where wild mustangs have been reintroduced after an absence of 140 years. One tribal program uses the horses as therapy to treat substance abuse, and David says the animals helped tame the wildness in him too. “Working with horses just brings out your inner peace.” View Article in PDF Format

LAKOTA PROJECT SHELTERS WILD HORSES, 2004
“Cowboys used to chase the wild horses, tame them as mounts, or sell them to slaughter houses. Today’s ranches both enjoy their existence as a symbol of the West and deplore their foraging on ranch crops.” View Article in PDF Format

WHERE THE HORSES RUN WILD. February, 2005
“Mustangs reconnect the Lakota people with their equine heritage.” The Lakota people never thought of the horse as a beast of burden. Throughout their shared history – which spans hundreds of years – they always considered this four-legged creature holy. They believe they are spiritually linked.”

GALLOPING SCARED. November 2006
“Before 1971, when Velma “Wild Horse Annie” Johnston won her crusade to save the country’s wild horses, they were being trapped in brutal airplane roundups, slaughtered, and sold as steaks overseas. Now Republican Montana senator Conrad Burns, through a bill signed by President Bush, has gutted the 35-year-old law protecting these cherished symbols of the America West.”

Wild Horses in Winds of Change, is a must see, according to Jonathan Ratner, of Western Water Sheds.  " The film is a wake up call to understand the root cause of all problems for wild horses.... "  Library Journal calls the award winning film "beautifully rendered and very persuasive..." and the DC Independent film refers to the film as "extraordinary."   Horse trainer and author, Karina Lewis is taking the film on the road as she launches her seminars and book signing .  She says:  "This is an excellent film with a very powerful message."

Wild Horses in Winds of Change

The thirty -minute documentary opened at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood in December, winning a Los Angeles Movie Award.  It is now being shown at film festivals coast to coast,  and has been selected by the prestigious,  Nashville Film Festival to be shown with “Buck” this years audience choice award at Sundance about the man who "The Horse Whisperer" with Robert Redford was inspired by.

Karen Sussman of ISPMB is featured in the film and will make an appearance at the Black Hills Film Festival.  http://www.blackhillsfilmfestival.com/  Check the website for date, time and ticket purchase.

Wild Horses In Winds of Change is currently the only documentary about wild horses that also carries an ecological message.  It is an ideal film to organize a fund-raising event around and raise money for a cause of your choice.  Contact http://wildhorsesinwindsofchange.com  to learn more.
